Current

On February 24, 2022, Barbara began taking notes on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for a social media diary which has an entry for each day of the war. On September 15, 2022, Anne Applebaum wrote in The Atlantic: “I believe that the war in Ukraine is one of the crucial events of our era: The outcome will determine the future of democracy in Europe and maybe the rest of the world.” Barbara is strongly commited to documenting this war.

Covid-19 Blues

Barbara is very excited to announce this book is being published by Aeolus House in Toronto. Each entry outlines the news of the day, coupled with a snapshot of life during lockdown. “I think the manuscript is perfect. Amazing. Stunning. I feel like I might have held my breath the entire time I was reading. I read Defoe’s ‘Journal of the Plague Year’ this summer - we have learned nothing in many ways.” — Paulette Cochreham, Eagle River, Alaska.

ᓇᑦᑎᖅ nattiq

“In ᓇᑦᑎᕐᒃ nattiq and the Land of Statues, from Groundwood Books, we enter the frozen beauty of the Arctic, and meet brave nattiq, a ringed seal full of memories and stories wanting to be shared. Each page offers a musically descriptive passage into the Canadian landscape, while celebrating the Inuktitut language through use of its syllabic text alongside English transcription.”—Mighty Village review

ᓄᓇᒥ nunami

“ᓄᓇᒥ nunami:Poems from the Arctic, authored by Barbara Landry from Quattro Books, is a stunning collection of poems, written from a visitor’s perspective on life in the true North, strong and free. Landry has literally used every single one of her senses in her writing, and describes images so vividly, that you feel as if you are right there beside her.” —Tanya C. Leary, OCT

Previous Works

“There is an aliveness, an immediacy, a genuineness and a privacy in Landry’s work that elicited something within me that felt like longing... Spirituality and sexuality? The body as sacred home?... Barbara tells me that God adores our sexuality and longs to celebrate this union with us. May it be so.”—Joy Kogawa, writing about Love Letters from Lyricalmyrical Press.
